I tried to replace the battery in my LENOVO T430. When I started it up, the BIOS loading stage displayed this prompt: “The battery installed isn’t supported by that technique and cannot charge t430.”

This is something that everyone can relate to.

Let’s say you have the same problem. This article will show you step-by-step how to fix the problem on your Lenovo T430.

It was an identical procedure, which I will describe in the following lines.

Here’s how it all began. This problem can also be fixed. Please take your time and read the entire article. Follow the steps to return. GOOD LUCK!

My Lenovo T430 laptop battery died, which means that the Battery cannot hold on for very long.

It shuts down jiffy when the facility adapter is far away from the wall plug.

My power adapter might have been necessary to carry with me everywhere I go. I needed a battery swap.

A lover who had a similar Battery for the same LENOVO TO-SERIES laptop gave me his.

It was nine cells 55++ Battery at this point. The one that contained extra battery batteries. Type of giant.

A crash that left everything except the Battery undamaged caused my friend to stop using the system.

I confidently took the Battery to use on my Lenovo T430. While booting up my Lenovo T430, I received a message from the BIOS that the Battery was not genuine and could not be charged.

Unless I purchase a compatible LENOVO battery, the thought that the same battery with an incompatible message might be a Lenovo Battery left me speechless!

To determine if it is charging, I hit ESC.

It didn’t go as planned. It worked! I gave up and got a new 9+ battery instead. It was the exact Battery that came with my Lenovo T430.

Surprisingly, the machine showed up after I had plugged the Battery in and hit the facility button.

The same problem occurred in my BIOS booting, so I can’t charge the new battery! I was stunned yet again.

Many fixes were tried, including updating the BIOS and installing a new power adapter. I also tried to shut down the Lenovo T430 by pressing the facility button for a long time.

I searched Google for solutions and threads similar to the current selective battery charging issue with Lenovo T430.

Surprised, I discovered that other people faced similar problems with the Lenovo T430 BIOS hard wiring and similar models BIOS.

This was done to ensure that only LENOVO batteries could be charged. This means that if you buy the Battery from another vendor, you will likely face similar problems with not charging.

After a few hours of reading related articles, I decided to stick with Google to find possible solutions.

God first, a Reddit posting from some geeky men, a YouTube video (Sebi’s Random Tech), and a Github Page (Hamish Coleman).

I was able to combine them all to create one simple solution to fix the BIOS of LenovoT430. This will allow me to use the nine cells 55++ as well as the other variant of Lenovo batteries that fit in the facility pins of the laptops.

Below are the steps I used:

1. My Lenovo T430 was first updated to the BIOS version 2.76 (G1HT35WW). I downloaded g1uj43us.exe from this LINK.
2. Before you download, ensure that your computer is connected to the facility source.

These are the first two steps I took; the next step is to tell LINUX to start on your machine.

You would like LINUX to remove any battery charging restrictions from the BIOS.

These steps were used to install LINUX, and then make the BIOS patches.

1. Got two flash drives. You can purchase an empty flash drive, memory card, or any storage that is empty in the FAT32 extension.
2. First Flash: Create a LINUX operating system that runs on the USB flash drive. You don’t have to worry about whether it will delete an OS like Windows.
3. The patch will be accommodated by the second Flash. Let’s copy the BIOS patch created by LINUX to this Flash.

These are the steps to apply the Lenovo T430 battery patches:

1. 1. Create a bootable Linux Mint flash drive

• You can! You’ll need to use UBUNTU or another Linux distro. I used LINUX MIX version 17 32bits in my case. Download Linux mint 17 32 bits by following this link: LINUXMINT 17 32BITS. The file is approximately 1GB.
• Note the situation after the Linux Mint iso file download is complete.
• Get the Unetbootin App for Windows. The Unetbootin app can be installed on your Windows PC. This will allow you to make a bootable LINUX mint flash disk.
• Open Unetbootin
• Select LINUX MINT under the Distribution tab
• Select 17 from the Version tab
• Find the Linux Mint 17 ISO file you have previously downloaded and click on it.
• Choose Type: a USB drive, hard disk or both
• Choose Drive for the option you prefer
• Click OK to begin the LINUX MINT bootable Flash drive creation process. This can usually take between 5 and 15 minutes. Relax and enjoy the moment.

Once the process is complete, you can start the next step in Linux Mint. Shut down your computer and restart it.

We now move on to the next step.

2. Creating the Battery charging Patch fix for Lenovo T430:

• After you have successfully booted into Linux Mint select the default option and wait few seconds for Linux Mint to finish.
• Linux Mint makes it easy to connect your computer to the internet via WiFi. The Connection button is usually located in the rock bottom right corner.
• Terminal Open
• type: sudo passwd root
• This will prompt you to enter a new password. Type: an Encourages you to reenter your password. Type: an
• Type: su
• Enter a password.
• You now have root access.
• Copy and paste the following code into Terminal

apt-get install build-essential git mtools libssl-dev

• Once you are done, copy the following into Terminal:

git clone https://github.com/hamishcoleman/thinkpad-ec

• When you are done, copy-paste this to Terminal. Copy-paste the following to Terminal again:

cd Thinkpad-ec

• Copy and paste the following:

make patch_disable_keyboard clean

• Once you are done, copy the code and paste it into Terminal.

Make patch_enable_battery clear

• Next, copy and paste the following code line or Type:
• Make a mistake and change the Capital T from T430 to a small T430.

make patched.T430.img

• We now need to copy the patched Bios file from the drive or Flash. This is where the second nonvolatile storage card often comes in.
• If you are still at the Terminal, type:

lsblk

• This will list all connected drives on your computer. Take note of the drive letters for each industry and their allocation sizes.NOTICE! NOTE! Make sure you don’t format every disk drive by choosing them.
• After removing the flash drive from your computer, you will need to copy the Bios file and paste it. It’s sda5. The code below will wipe everything within the industry and replace it with the patch Bios file.

sudo dd if=patched.T430.img of=/dev/sda5

• When done! Voila! Now, shut down your computer and connect to Lenovo t430 flash drive/hard disk/memorycard containing the Bios Battery patch.
• Choose the boot option to start up from Flash. This will install the Battery Patch.
• The battery charging restriction for LENOVO t430 will be removed if the patch is successfully installed as described above.
