We have been addressing numerous challenges and concerns facing consumers since the Windows 10 update took place. We addressed earlier how to repair this app when downloading programmes for your Security Error was disabled. Another issue affecting Windows 10 users is that Microsoft Edge shuts directly after it begins or opens.

One can only guess that this is happening when the phenomenon is already fresh and there is not much knowledge to be learned about it. But the Startup page ought to be the key reason behind this Edge Collapse. It’s a tab that appears when you open Microsoft Edge for the first time.

It can be said that Microsoft Edge can have trouble loading the Startup tab, so it automatically crashes and closes after launch. Let us see a potential way for you to solve this dilemma yourself.

Fixing Microsoft Edge Auto Problem Termination

So we finally decided to write this patch after studying a bit on this issue, which we think should work best. There is not much support available on the forums, however. The proposed fixes offered in some forums for this issue are complicated and too difficult for a typical Windows 10 user to digest.

We can solve the problem here at Fixerrs.com by making minor adjustments to MS Edge Settings. Let us see how this can be achieved.

If Microsoft Edge closes itself again before executing the measures listed below, you might want to disconnect your Internet connection. Disconnecting from the Internet helps you to do these steps without any complications.

Step 1: Open Edge for Microsoft.

Step 2: Press the More Activities button (3 dots) in the upper right corner under the Close button.

Step 3: Press Setup.

Step 4: Now you will see 4 Options Under “Open With” , Select 4th Option which says “A Specific Page or Pages”

Step 5: Now Under that you will see a Bar, Keep it as Default or Select Custom and add any Url like www.google.com just like shown in Below Picture.

Microsoft Edge Open with

Lock your MS Edge now and open it again. The dilemma should be overcome and it won’t close itself automatically now.

If you are still unable to do the steps above and MS edge crashes automatically, then in Cortana quest, type something, something like www.facebook.com, and click enter. If Edge is your default browser, Facebook will open it it won’t crash this time, and it will let you do the steps above.

UPDATE 1: Turn on Windows Firewall

If it doesn’t help to actually modify the Startup page, then it’s obvious that the Startup page is not a concern. We find that if your Windows Firewall is switched off then in Microsoft Edge you can have this problem.

If for whatever excuse, you have the Windows Firewall switched off, then you just need to turn it on. Only follow the steps:

  • Find and open the Control Panel.
  • Now press System & Security > Firewall for Windows.
  • Click the Switch Windows Firewall On or OFF button on the left.
  • Then, press Windows Firewall Turn-on, and then click OK.

Try to erase your browser history if this does not succeed. Click More Action(3 Dots on the top right corner), then go to Settings > Scroll down to find Clear Viewing Data > Pick What to Clear > Clear. First of all, click Open Edge again.

This will Delete your Browsing History and might just help you to fix this issue as well.

UPDATE 2: Tweaking Registry

Thanks to Youngjae KIM for your feedback and measures to fix this issue, you need to tweak the register and it must be done carefully.

Temporary fix to Microsft Edge Crash after Opening

So, if you are not supported by the above steps, you might want to try adding another user to your device, then log out of your current account and log in to your newly created account.

Try to open MS Edge now. It’s not going to shut down in 5 seconds now. This will illustrate that the account is an issue that one is now very aware about.

But this will let you continue to search your stuff that was not previously allowed. And if you still have no other browser installed on your device, you can also uninstall Chrome or Firefox on your PC using this tool.
