milConnect is your one-stop shop for managing records and benefits in DoD, whether you are new to it or returning after some time away. As an online self-service portal with several integrated applications to assist with this goal – such as DEERS – milConnect provides everything you need.

Signing into milConnect requires either a Common Access Card or Department of Defense Self-Service Logon account. When signed in, your milConnect home page displays your name and whether you’re signed in as either sponsor or dependent; additionally it indicates which statuses are currently active such as “Active Duty,” “Retired,” and “Separating.” To navigate within milConnect pages easily and navigate the site using menus at the top, choose one at any point on any milConnect page.

milConnect provides access to DEERS information such as your enlistment and separation dates, pay data and more. In addition, adding your spouse in DEERS to begin benefits for your family is also possible; please see our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page regarding how to do this.

DoDTAP (eForm and VMET) from the Correspondence/Documentation menu allows Service members and veterans to easily access important documents regarding the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP). TAP counselors or authorized commanders working with Service members or veterans on eForms may access DoDTAP for Managers and Counselors as a convenient means of finding important files related to TAP. If you’re an administrator managing this type of account, Sign in and choose DoDTAP Managers/Counselors from Correspondence/Documentation menu to gain access.

Managing Your Records and Benefits

MilConnect serves the records and benefits management needs of active duty military service members, transitioning Service members from active to Guard/Reserve duty, military retirees/dependents and their family members in one convenient place. You can use milConnect to update contact details, view TRICARE eligibility cards online and transfer education benefit entitlements between family members.

milConnect makes managing your TRICARE benefits and records online easy with their eCorrespondence initiative, providing email notifications of important information. In addition to this service, there is also access to several documents and forms on milConnect’s DPRIS and BWE pages for further reference.

MilConnect makes managing military life events easy! Staying up-to-date is key for staying informed of services you are entitled to and enjoying the highest possible quality of life, and milConnect helps keep you informed on matters like changing active duty status, deployment alerts and transitioning between Guard/Reserve status. milConnect provides more than just FAQ pages – it features an array of useful tools and resources such as:

All Service members and their families can utilize the eCorrespondence page to access benefit eligibility, enrollment and Medicare-related correspondence. You can view and print proof-of-coverage letters showing eligibility for medical services; additionally you’ll find important TRICARE documents like Under 65 Medicare Brochures here.

BWE can also be used to enroll or disenroll from TRICARE plans, update address information that affects plan eligibility, access pharmacy and Medicare information and register beneficiaries with SGLI Beneficiary Web Enrollment; sponsors can gain access by clicking one of milConnect’s medical eligibility, dental or pharmacy tabs and selecting their dependent beneficiary’s BWE profile.

Getting Help

Managed your DoD records and benefits require tools beyond milConnect, so select one of the topics below to locate resources suitable to your requirements.

All individuals 18 or over with an affiliation to the DoD can use milConnect to manage their personal contact information in Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE), correspondence from DoD officials and benefits recorded in DEERS. As a sponsor, you can also access this data for your eligible family members – to verify this status, look at the upper right of your milConnect page when signing in – where it states whether you are signed in as either sponsor or dependent.

Updating Your Personal Information

If your address or phone number changes, be sure to update them in milConnect so you continue receiving DoD correspondence and notifications. Also, when moving bases or bases change location, remember to update your military ID card accordingly.

Transfer of Education Benefits (TEB)

As a career Service member considering the transfer of Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to your spouse or children, BUPERS Online from milConnect’s Benefits menu allows you to track TEB requests. In addition, DoDTAP page allows you to complete, review and print DD214 forms (Member 1 or Service 2) which contain your discharge information.
