Disney Plus is a popular streaming service for movies and TV series on smart TVs, mobile devices, and other streaming players.
It has been a huge success since its inception, except for occasional technical difficulties that users may encounter.
As with any streaming service, there are many issues to be aware of when using Disney Plus, such as buffering, freezing, and lagging.
Despite the frustration, there are many solutions.
This is what I discovered after researching the issue:
If your internet speed is slow, Disney Plus may lag. If you don’t update the app, it can freeze or go dark completely.
Another possible reason is the accumulation of cookies or cached data, which makes it difficult to fetch and stream content.
Speed and internet connection.
Poor internet connectivity and slow download speeds can cause streaming problems with Disney Plus. For quality streaming, Disney recommends that users use the following internet speeds:
- 5.0 MBPS high-definition streaming video
- 4K UHD video streaming at 25.0 MBPS
In most cases, slow internet speeds will result in reduced video quality to reduce buffering. Regular buffering and freezing will not occur when Disney Plus is set to stream in HD/UHD.
Shifting to an RJ45 cat8 Ethernet cable can help boost data transmission speeds from your router to the TV or streaming device.
You can also opt for a powerful router for 4K streaming if you are using a wireless connection.
Your internet connection may be very unstable if it continues to buffer or lag. To ensure your internet connection meets these recommendations, run a speed test.
Update the app
Disney Plus is still relatively new and may need to be updated to provide the best possible performance.
If you don’t have the latest version, there may be lagging, freezing, or buffering issues in some cases.
The following steps will allow you to check, download and install updates from your device’s app store:
- Go to the app store click on the profile icon. Check the section “Available Updates” to see if Disney Plus has any pending updates. To begin the process, click on the Update button.
- Go to theGoogle Play StoreSelect My Apps and Games from the menu. Click the Update icon next to the Disney App.
- Launch the App Store on a Mac by using the Dock or the App Finder tool. To get started, click on the Updates button in the menu.
Restart the app
Force-closing Disney Plus can also fix buffering, lagging, and freezing issues. You can do this by closing the app and all background programs.
To view all apps that are running in the background on your device, swipe up from the bottom to reveal the Home button. To force close the Disney Plus app, swipe up from the bottom of your screen.
To see if it is fixed, restart the app.
Reinstall Disney Plus
Reinstalling Disney+ can fix buffering, freezing, and other problems. Reinstall the app by uninstalling it from your device.
After you are done, log in with your email address to see if the problem has been solved.
Because it deletes all cached data, reinstalling Disney Plus helps to reduce storage usage.
Find the right hardware
To minimize buffering and app freezing, make sure you have the correct cables and hardware for Disney Plus.
Disney recommends that you use high-speed HDMI cables (such as the iBirdie 4K HDR HDMI cable) and HDCP 2.2 cables on Roku, Fire Stick TV, and other similar devices to achieve high-speed streaming without any buffering issues.
Clear cached data and cookies
Some data is stored in cache and cookies when you use your browser. These data can cause buffering or lagging in apps that rely on the internet for their functionality.
Click More in the upper right corner of Google Chrome to select the appropriate option. More ToolsScroll down to find out more. Scroll down to learn more learn Browsing DataClick on it.
To delete any data that is stored in the Disney Plus app, check the box for site data and cookies.
Firefox users can click History to clear their recent history. Make sure you tick the box to clear the cache. Restart Firefox to allow the changes to take place.
Go to settings->Apps->Disney Plus. Select Storage will then hit the clear DataAndClear CacheTo delete all data saved to the app, click the buttons below.
These fixes are usually effective but buffering or freezing problems may still occur, especially if the app is used on specific devices.
Disney Plus may buffer on your ps4 despite having tried everything. You may have to wait until the problem is resolved before you can use the app again.
