How to Fix Runtime Error 217

Runtime Error 217 happens at the start of windows in many instances.
If you automatically get an error message when you start your windows, it means you have a trouble starting up. Some programmes clash when Windows starts and error messages are created. Cleaning up the boot process is what you need to do this. To clean up the boot phase, follow a few basic steps below:

For windows vista / windows 7:

You will want to try RegCure Pro, which does the job immediately before taking the below steps and avoids any other error messages in the future. You can immediately download it from HERE and instal it. Then to correct them, do a fast search for errors. As plain as that.

The above tool I mentioned should fix the problem, but just follow the steps below for some of you.

Step 1. In the Search window, click Start, type msconfig.exe, then press the Enter button. ( You might get prompted for administrator password to proceed further. If asked fill password and proceed )

Step 2. Open the General tab, click Selective Startup, and uncheck the Load Startup Items option.

Step 3. Now go to the Services page, check the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then press the button at the bottom right to Uninstall All. This will only allow Microsoft services to be invoked upon start-up and will delete all other subsidiary services.

Step 4. Finally, press OK and restart the machine to verify that you are not getting a runtime error.

When you receive updates to Runtime Error 217 with Internet Explorer or Norton Antivirus, you can try the following steps:

  • Click on Start button

  • Click on Manage Browser Add-ons and look for Norton Confidential Browser Helper plugin which is being
    used by Internet explorer.
  • Select and disable it.
