Another Windows 10 bug happens as users attempt to execute .exe files for Software/Program Download. We addressed the Related Error Solution for Windows 10 File System Error (-1073741819) earlier. But what happens is that if you want to instal a new application on your machine, it would not help to run the .exe file as an administrator.

The User Account Management error message could read “This App Has Been Blocked For Your Protection” and “An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information, contact the administrator” Much as in the photo below.

This app has been blocked for your protection

What is causing This App Has Been Blocked For Your Protection Error?

As the error message says, you’ve been blocked from using this software by the administrator. But you might say, I’m the administrator, or I even tried to run the app as administrator, but I didn’t have any success.

Ok, Windows 10 has an inbuilt Administrator account that blocks App/Program download. This user account for the Administrator is Secret and Disabled. We’re only going to allow it to correct an error that has been disabled for your protection.

Smartscreen Security in Windows 10, which is allowed by default, is the main problem behind this mistake. Disable it by enabling the User account and signing in to it. We will share 3 different ways to solve this dilemma, but there is more to it. So, let’s go.

Fixing This App Has Been Blocked For Your Protection

Method Updated: Neighborhood Community Policy Tweaking

“This App has been blocked for your protection”This app was blocked for your protection. Credits for this technique go to the gentlemen who have written on this article below. So, here’s what it takes you to do.

  • In the Windows search bar, search for ‘Edit Community Policy’ and press the result.
  • Tap Device Setup > Settings for Windows (left pane).
  • Double-click Protection Settings now (right) and double-click Local Policies again.
  • Double-click Options for Protection.
  • Scroll down to the bottom and find “User Account Control – Run all Administrators in admin approval mode”
  • Double-click it and the “Disabled” option will come up in a tiny window. Check it and add the modifications.
  • Reboot the PC.

So we removed the power of the user account with the above actions that might address the issue in this situation. At least a few users have confirmed that this is working and we have agreed to update this article. If it works, let us know by replying to this comment.

Method 2: Enabling Administrator Account

This is the very first of 3 approaches we’re going to explore today, enabling you to allow and log in to the built-in administrator account. Follow the measures referred to below

Step 1: Open the Search Command Prompt or Right-click the Start button, and then click the Prompt Command Prompt (Admin).

Step 2: Upon opening or copying it, paste “net user administrator /active:yes” into it and press ENTER. Just as below, you will see Order Executed Successfully.

Command Prompt admin

Step 3: Now close the Prompt command and press Start, then right-click your User Account, then click Sign Out.

Step 4: By now, you should be on the login page, so log in to the account of the administrator that we allowed in Step 2.

Step 5: Now you can see the Desktop, just move to and double-click the .exe file. This time, you won’t see a mistake.

Step 6: So now that the Appropriate Software has been enabled, you will need to log in to your Standard User account again and uninstall the Administrator User account again.

Step 7: Well, then you can log into your daily account right now. Open the prompt for the command and type “net user administrator /active:no” and press Enter.

It is that. Close a prompt for Order. This should most definitely solve the bug, but we have 2 more methods to fix this app in Windows 10 for your security mistake.

Method 3: Disabling Smart Screen from Command prompt.

So if you don’t want to allow the Administrator User Account, and if you find Process 1 to be too messy, adopt this method.

  • Search and Open Control Panel.
  • Check for “Smartscreen” in the Control Panel Window now.
  • Under Protection & Maintenance, press ‘Adjust Smartscreen Settings.’
  • To view Drop Down Options, click on Safety.
  • For Windows SmartScreen, scroll down and press Adjust Settings.
  • Pick Don’t do something now (Turn Windows Smart Screen off) and then press OK.

Turn of Windows Smartscreen

So with this approach, we just did the same thing in a different way. Now attempt to execute the file that tells you that this programme has been stopped for your defence. It must now be gone for good.

Method 4: Open Command Prompt and Try installing

The 2 methods discussed above should be adequate to correct this error in Windows 10, but you should also use this method.

Goto the Folder where your .exe file is located and causing error, Lets say you are trying to run Photoshop.exe and its located in D:\Setup\Photoshop.exe.

So as per the example above, you’re going to navigate to the D drive, press the Setup folder, don’t open it.
Keep the Shift key and right-click the Configuration folder, open the Command Window in the context menu and click it.

Command Prompt comes up at position D:\Setup, don’t just type Photoshop.exe and press enter, it won’t show you that your security bug has disabled this app.

But these were the three approaches I wanted to discuss that help you get rid of the Blocked For Your Security Error app. Let us know in the comments below which tool you have used to repair it.
