Oh hi!!! You’re presumably here because your computer has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) popping up from nowhere. And you were asked to search online for “Critical Process Died” or “Windows 10 Critical Process Died” mistakes. Users of Windows 8 and Windows 10 all face this bug more often than not.

BSOD for Windows users is a disaster because it won’t allow you to do something until it happens. After gathering error information, the machine could restart on its own but again the blue screen appears with the same error that Vital Process Died does in this case. The loop continues until a remedy is found and you return to life.

Such a blue death screen will scare you at first but it gets better once you know how to repair it, as you will know here today. Let’s start with our mission to work around and repair Windows 8 or Windows 10 Error Died Vital Process.

Reasons for Critical Process Died Error

One can see from the name of the error that one of the many processes needed for Windows to run has stopped and hence the Blue screen. There are lots of explanations for this BSOD; a couple of them will be mentioned below.

Critical_Process_Died BSOD

  • System Drivers Corrupt
  • Windows Registry Corrupt.
  • Device Files Affected
  • The Poor RAM
  • Poor or Defective SSD/Hard Disk

Malwares/Viruses on the machine may be another reason. Disputes can result in a blue screen.
So now you can be very confident that on your Windows 8 or 10 PC, either of the above culprits is liable for Vital Process Died mistake.

Ways to Fix Critical Process Died Error

Updated last Feb. 4, 2017

We will step in immediately to see if we can fix this issue on our own now that we know the causes.

Method #1: System Drivers Correction/Updating.

If you can boot your PC without the Died Blue Vital Process panel, then skip to How to search and update defective drivers below immediately.

But if you can’t boot your PC to start the screen; you may ask, I should be able to load windows first to upgrade system drivers, and this BSOD won’t let me. Relax, in Secure MODE, you can boot your PC first. This will ensure that when booting, no unnecessary drivers are installed. If you are fortunate, booting your PC into Safe Mode itself will fix the dilemma.

Steps To Boot your PC in safe mode:

  • Restart your PC as the motherboard is running, then press Shift + f8 keys to make sure you touch these keys before the Windows logo appears.
  • If you do this job correctly, then you will see the Advance Repair Option screen (After a few failed attempts to load screens, you will see the Advance Repair option automatically).
  • Click Troubleshoot > Advance Options > Windows Startup Settings to display anything like the image below on the screen.

Enable Safe mode

Only allow Safe Mode now and launch your PC. You must not have the Vital Process-Died BSOD 99 percent of the time when you restart. Windows should be able to load in a protected mode.

How to Check Faulty Drivers & update them.

You need to search for any defective system drivers until you’re in stable mode. Only press Windows + X and click the System Manager button.

If the computer hardware drivers are defective or conflicted, they should have a Yellow Flag on them. All you have to do is extend each group one by one to check for any drivers under the Yellow Flag. If there’s none you can discover, so you can be confident the drivers aren’t the culprits.

But if you see any Yellow Flag or Yellow Triangle drivers, right-click them and update them if there’s an update available. Alternatively, you can even download drivers from the website of the manufacturer.

If the drivers are up to date, then uninstall them and then if that works, allow them again. If it doesn’t, right-click to delete those drivers. With a warning note, you might be asked, but just do it.

Now, from the menu bar, press Action and click Scan for Hardware Adjustments. This will reinstall the drivers and could fix the problem as well. Restart your PC now and see if you are still having BSOD error from Vital Process Died.

Easiest way to fix Drivers Issue.

If you want to bypass the hard work, then I also have a tool that is really easy to use. If upgrading or uninstalling drivers manually doensn’t help repairing Vital Process died BSOD, you can use this tool.

The approach is to use the Advanced Driver Problems Search and Repair tool. Using the Driver Agent to check the device for any obsolete and unreliable cars.

Step 1: Click here to download the new Driver Agent update.

Step 2: Much like any other programme, instal it.

Step 3: Run it once enabled and it will search your PC for outdated/faulty drivers automatically.

Step 4: The scan can take no longer than a minute to view the Obsolete Driver List.

Step 5: Press the Download Everything button and then the Next button.

Not only does this application upgrade your drivers, but it can even save and recover them at any moment. Using the Driver Agent on a daily basis guarantees a smooth and error prone device. This is made possible when you can quickly access the database of millions of drivers available for any hardware.

Method #2: Repairing Windows Registry & System files.

If you still have BSOD, you will need to restore the Windows register. About why? Maybe you’ll inquire. Well a registry key is attached to Windows any time you update or uninstall the programme on your device. Ultimately, every now and then, register entries are interrupted and may ultimately become corrupt.

Because of the high possibility of making it up, I would not dare to discuss how to edit the register manually. But there are services that can come to the aid, such as Complete System Treatment.

Complete Machine Care organises the register entries, eliminates unnecessary entries, and restores corrupt entries, which will address this BSOD problem finally. Know, safe and structured registry entries are essential to free PCs that are healthy and error free. Not just registry entries, but all corrupt system files can also be taken care of by Complete System Care. The Vital Mechanism Died Fixer Method can be said to be the instrument.

Method #3: Scan and Fix Damaged System Files

Device File Checker is a helpful tool offered by Windows OS to search for lost or defective system files and to restore or patch them if found.

  • First of all, as an admin, you’ll need to open the Command Prompt. To click Command Prompt (Admin), press Windows + X or right-click the Start button.
  • Select ‘sfc /scannow’ now and press enter.
  • To finish, this will take a solid 15-20 minutes, so sit back close.
  • When done, you will be able to see whether any bugs have been found in machine files and if they have been discovered, whether or not they have been fixed.

That’s it, now reboot your PC and if corrupt machine files were really the cause, you should not see BSOD with Vital Process Died error.

Method #4: Using Restore point.

In cases like this, Restore Points tend to be very effective. If you already have a Restore Point generated in the past while your PC was running Smooth as Butter, this approach is only useful for you.

If you do not know about points restore, then please skip this process, but read about points restore later and build one immediately after solving this Blue Death Screen.

For those who have already built a Restore Stage, do you know what you need to do right? Right, do it to see how this addresses the problem of the crucial method.

Method #5: Refresh or Reinstall Windows.

If nothing works out of the above stuff, then you could be compelled to refresh or reinstall Windows very well.

Refreshing Windows will preserve your user info, but it will reinstall your base operating system.

Reinstalling Windows can delete everything from your system disc, which is C Drive in most instances. But you better take a backup of something on the C drive that’s current. This alternative almost ensures that the Critical Process Error has been fixed.

Simply hover your mouse on the right corner of your screen to refresh your PC, and press Settings > Change PC Settings > Upgrade and Recovery > Recovery . Now just below “Refresh your PC without disturbing your files,” Press Get Started.

Simply insert your Windows OS DVD to reinstall Windows, then get started. Until installation, don’t forget to format your C drive.
