Vizio SmartCast lets you control your entertainment experience. This allows you to browse, discover, and watch TV shows and live streams from multiple apps simultaneously.
Sometimes, however, that experience can become something else if the Smartcast takes forever to load or doesn’t start.
You may also have encountered a problem whereby your Vizio television displays a message that shows SmartCast TV is not available.
When Vizio Smartcast is starting up, it should take a few seconds to load content. If it takes more than 30 seconds to load content, this is an indication that there is a problem. What could be the problem?
Why SmartCast takes too long to load
Your device is either loading forever or not available due to:
- You haven’t connected your TV to any network
- There is a memory leak in your device
- Internet connection unstable
If the program you’re looking for is not available, particularly if it’s a live event on TV, this could also be a problem.
How to fix Vizio SmartCast loading issues
You can resolve the problem by following these steps:
1. Conduct a soft power-cycle on your TV
To reset its configuration parameters, power-cycle the TV. This will allow it to return to normal after being unresponsive. Vizio TV can be used to conduct a soft power cycle.
- Go to Menu using your Vizio remote control
- Select System
- Select Reset or Admin
- Choose Soft Cycles
The unit will turn on and then restart. It will take approximately a minute to get the unit started.
2. 2. Verify your network connection status
Smartcast may not start up if you haven’t connected it to a network. Thus, verify before proceeding.
- Go to the Network Menu
- Run a Test Connection
If you are unable to connect or the speed of the network is not zero or unavailable, then do the following:
- You can power-cycle your router by unplugging the power source
- Allow to sit for ten minutes, then reconnect.
You should also ensure you have an internet connection that is stable or strong enough to connect to a hotspot.
3. Switch your Vizio TV to HDMI 1
These steps will allow you to switch your TV from HDMI 2 to HDMI 1.
- Find the input selection controls on your remote
- To display all inputs, press the button
- Select HDMI 1
- Wait for the programs to load before you see “No Input” signals.
If you receive a message stating that there is no input,
- Use the remote control to access the menu
- Highlight and Select System
- Select Reset and Admin
- Get the Soft Power Cycle
It will turn off the TV and then power it back up.
The message will read Smartcast is currently starting up. It will disappear in a minute. Next, switch your device to SmartCast input.
4. Factory reset the TV
After following the above steps, Smartcast may not start after you have erased your personal settings. This is how to do it:
- Use the Press Menu
- Go to Reset and Admin
- Select Reset Factory Settings
- Select Reset
Next, you will need to set up the TV as you did when you first bought it. Here’s a more detailed guide on how to reset a Vizio TV with or without the remote.
Smartcast may not be working because you haven’t connected it to the Internet.
To reinitialize the configuration parameters, do a soft power cycle if your device is taking longer to load. You can also factory reset your device to start over.
