In the middle of an important Zoom meeting with your employer or hosting a Zoom webinar for your peers, you suddenly find that the Zoom share screen is not working properly on your computer.
This is going to be a very frustrating situation, especially if you are unable to determine the source of the problem with the Zoom share screen. To be quite honest, it is a pretty common issue, and we have all encountered it at some point in our lives for a variety of compelling reasons.
Today, our IT experts have delved into the most common reasons for the Zoom share screen not working and have devised a simple solution for each of the major operating systems.
Zoom Share Screen Not Working Causes & Solutions
If you’re having trouble with your Zoom share screen feature, one of the following factors could be to blame:
1. Host Forget to Enable “All Participants” Settings
It is possible that your host has forgotten to configure screen sharing settings and has not enabled it for “All Participants,” which can prevent you from sharing your screen.
If you have any doubts, you can click on the Share Screen option and see if you receive the message “Host disabled participant screen sharing.” If you do, this means that your host has disabled screen sharing for everyone.
To request that the “All Participants” share screen option be enabled, you can quickly send a message to your host through the chat window.
Solution
On both Mac and Windows systems:
After clicking on the “Share Screen” button, select “Advanced Sharing Options…” from the drop-down menu. Then, under Who Can View, select All Participants from the drop-down menu.
On Android and iOS, there is an advanced sharing option:

When you go to the Meeting Setting page, click on the More button and check the box next to “Allow Participants to” to enable the Share Screen feature.
2. Disabled Zoom App Permissions
If you haven’t given the Zoom app permission to access the camera and microphone on your device, the Zoom share screen will not function properly for you. As a result, you must check your system settings to see whether you have permitted the app access to your camera and microphone or whether you have not.
Solution
On both Windows and Mac, the following options are available:
You must first access the Apple menu or Windows Settings, and then select System Preferences from the drop-down menu. From there, select Security & Privacy from the drop-down menu and then select the Privacy tab. You can now access all of the permission categories, from location to app analytics, all in one place.
On Android and iOS, you can do the following:
Go to the Settings app on your Android or iOS smartphone, scroll down to the Zoom app tab, and tap on it to launch it. You’ll be able to see all of the accesses that have been granted to the app on your smartphone.
3. Exit and Restart Zoom
The Zoom program on your smartphone can be affected by temporary caches, which can cause many errors at the same time. Consequently, closing the program completely and immediately reopening it may resolve the “Zoom sharing screen not working” issue for you in some cases. Please keep in mind that you must completely exit the program, not merely close it.
Solution
On both Windows and Mac, the following options are available:
zoom out and then back in
If you are using Windows, go to the Windows tray on the Taskbar and left-click on the Zoom icon, followed by the Exit button. On a Mac, from the Menu Bar, left-click on the Zoom icon and then select Quit from the drop-down menu that appears on the screen.
On Android and iOS, you can do the following:
Press the home button to close the app and then choose it from the recent apps list to delete it from the device.
4. Outdated Graphics Driver
Your graphic driver is critical in allowing you to easily share the screen with others. If your graphic drivers are out of date, you will be unable to establish a faultless video conference and will be presented with the “Zoom share screen not working” error frequently.
Check the manufacturer’s website to see which version of the new graphic driver is compatible with your device before installing it on your computer or mobile device.
Solution
On both Windows and Mac, the following options are available:
Open the AMD website on Windows and select Drivers & Support from the drop-down menu. Download the appropriate graphic driver. To utilize Apple Boot Camp, select Graphics from the drop-down menu, then Mac Graphics from the next column, and finally Apple Boot Camp from the following column.
On Android and iOS, you can do the following:
Graphic drivers for your device can be downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
5. Unstable Internet Connection
The Zoom Support team advises that you should have a minimum of 800kbps to 1mbps download/upload rates to have an excellent video conference experience. If your internet connection isn’t fast enough, you may experience turbulence throughout your video conversation or a persistent error message stating that the Zoom sharing screen is not working. The most effective approach, in this case, would be to examine your network speed and increase it.
Solution
On both Windows and Mac, the following options are available:
If you are connecting to a Wi-Fi network, double-check your router—all wires and connections included. Second, you can relocate closer to your wi-fi router to benefit from faster speeds. Alternately, you can try to log out of your network from the Network Settings and then log back in using your password.
On Android and iOS, you can do the following:
Users of Android and iOS devices can activate Airplane Mode for one minute before turning it off. They can also opt to use cellular data to get faster speeds.
