Plex Media Server (or PMS), is a user-friendly method of storing media files together in one location. You can access these files from any device thanks to the central storage.
So, if you want to use Plex on a Smart TV, the first step is to link your television with your PMS. To get started, you can use plex.tv/link But in recent times, many users have encountered a problem where Plex. tv/link is not working.
It should be easy to connect Plex to your TV and start watching content. However, you might encounter problems when trying to link your device (TV or Xbox, Smartphone, etc.) to your PMS.
Users have reported numerous issues with accessing plex.tv/link activ. Some users are unable to sign in and some cannot enter the four-digit code.
Why Plex. tv/link isn’t working on your device
There are several reasons Plex cannot be linked to TV, some of which include:
- Plex servers are down
- You’re using an obsolete version of PMS

Steps to fix plex.tv/link when it isn’t working
These methods can help you fix some of these problems:
1. 1.Update your Plex Media Server
If you are running an outdated version of the PMS, update it by going to the download page.
First, choose the platform you want to use for updating your server (Windows, Linux, or Seagate). So that you get the most recent version, Make sure you have the most recent version of your TV and mobile app.
2. 2. Sign out of your Plex account
Your Plex account may have already been used to sign into the PMS if your app is having trouble connecting to the Plex server.
This could also indicate that your application has been signed in and linked to your account. Here’s what you can do:
- Plex accounts can be canceled in the app and PMS.
- Log in to Plex Media Server and log in to your Plex Account
- Log in to Plex through the Plex app, or via plex. tv/link.
It is important to ensure that the Plex server can be connected to.
3. 3.Connect your devices to the same IP range
Sometimes, users get the error message “Plex cannot connect to the content server”. In most cases, this means that your app and PMS are not connected to the same network.
To link properly, your server and application must be on the same network subnet.
If your server is at 22.214.171.124 and your app is at 126.96.36.199 then your app must be at 188.8.131.52. These settings can be changed by visitingSettings>Server>Network.
4. 4.Connect your app to your Plex Account
Plex cannot connect to TV if you try to link it to Plex.
This is what to do if Plex cannot find the server.
- Open the app on your TV
- Click Here to Sign in
- On your screen will be displayed a four-character Plex Activation Code
- Use your desktop browser to go to plex.tv/link
- If you don’t know where to type Plex code, just look for the space bar that reads CODE
- Click Submit
Your player app will automatically refresh once you have submitted it. This will complete the process of linking it to your account.
If you are getting the Plex server unavailable error when using plex.tv/link, ensure that your player app and PMS are on the same network or subnet.
Plex can also experience a Plex not working error if the service is down. If that happens, they will need to fix it.
