An embedded SIM is a programmable chip built directly into your phone that works similarly to traditional SIM cards but offers additional flexibility when managing plans on your device.

E-SIMs provide many of the same advantages of physical SIMs without all their drawbacks, yet not every carrier supports them yet. Here’s how you can check if your phone contains one and learn more about its operation.

IMEI

An IMEI number is key for multiple reasons. Law enforcement and network providers use it to identify stolen devices; furthermore, it identifies brand, model and specification information about any phone you own and plan on selling it later on. Keep its IMEI safe if selling off your phone later on!

IMEI numbers are unique 15-digit identification numbers used to uniquely identify SIM-enabled mobile devices such as phones, tablets and mobile broadband routers. You can locate it on either the back or underneath SIM card tray of your device; Android and iOS settings apps also list this information.

Find your IMEI by dialing *#06# on your phone keypad or visiting its manufacturer’s website, or use an IMEI checker free tool such as an IMEI Checker to validate its number – also helpful if purchasing used phones, as the IMEI/MEID numbers act like fingerprints for cell phones similar to computer serial numbers.

EID

Technology continues to advance rapidly, particularly within the communication industry. One such innovation is E-SIMs which enable people to connect to mobile operators networks without using physical SIM cards. To activate an eSIM on your phone you will require its EID number.

To locate your EID number on a smartphone, open the Settings app and navigate to “About phone.” Here you will see information regarding your device such as its IMEI and serial numbers as well as EID number which should be listed under each.

The EID number is a unique identifier built into every device. It acts as a replacement for the IMEI and MEID numbers found on most GSM-based phones and enables you to connect directly to your mobile operator without using physical SIM cards. Furthermore, its uniqueness also allows it to track a lost or stolen phone.

MMI

Symptoms of an invalid MMI code error on your Android phone could include “connection problem or invalid MMI code.” There are a few DIY hacks you can try in order to restore normalcy to your device; typically this error results from two SIM cards interfering with each other.

Restarting your phone may help resolve this error; though this may take several attempts. Disabling one of your SIM cards may also provide relief if there is trouble with service provider connectivity.

If none of these solutions work, entering safe mode on your phone could help clear out your memory and remove any third-party apps causing issues. If this problem still persists, contact your service provider and choose one with 24/7 real time customer support for quickest feedback.

eSIM Capabilities

A SIM is a small thumbnail-sized card you insert into your phone to connect it with its cellular network and plan. While SIMs have long been a staple of mobile technology, with more sophisticated smartphones it has become more prevalent for carriers and device manufacturers to replace physical SIMs with electronic ones known as an eSIM.

eSIMs are embedded programmable chips within smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches that serve the same function as physical SIMs. They allow carriers to remotely download carrier information so you can switch providers without changing phones.

If your phone comes equipped with an eSIM, Numero’s Data plans should work perfectly fine on it. Before making your purchase, it is wise to consult the device maker, vendor or carrier in question to see if they support eSIMs before purchasing or activating. Most carriers provide this service either online or through mobile apps.
