The Smart TV includes apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Xfinity, and YouTube.
The apps can be used to view TV shows and movies. Any one of these apps may stop working. There are many reasons why Samsung Smart TV apps do not work.
Incorrect internet settings and outdated software are the most common reasons Samsung TV apps don’t start.
There are many ways to fix apps that stop loading, freezing, or crashing on a Samsung Smart TV.
Samsung Smart TV apps not functioning
These fixes will fix your Samsung Smart TV apps not connecting to the internet.
1. Cold boot your Samsung Smart TV
Cold booting does not mean turning off your TV and turning it back on. The TV will remain on standby if it is turned off.
A cold reboot means that you shut down your TV and restart it. It’s the same thing as restarting your computer.
It can fix many problems such as app crashes, freezes, glitches, and not loading. A simple reboot can fix a variety of other issues, including menu and image problems.
Two ways to cold boot your Samsung TV are available.
Use the remote
The easiest method to cold reboot your Smart TV is with a remote. Hold down the power button until your Smart TV turns off. This should take no more than five seconds.
Unplugging your TV
To cold restart your TV if the remote battery is low, unplug it. Also, unplug the TV from the wall outlet or surge protector. After waiting at least 40 seconds, plug it back in.
Before you test functions on your TV, wait for other devices to turn on such as your router.

2. 2.Fixing apps not showing up in Smart Hub
Smart Hub is where all apps reside. It is also known as the Samsung Apps Store.
Change the country code of your Samsung Smart TV app to one that is different if they aren’t available in Smart Hub.
These are the steps to follow:
- To load the Smart Hub, press the button on your remote control.
- After Smart Hub is loaded, press 2, 8, 9. Your device’s series may have different numbers.
- Choose any country from the Internet Service Location.
- Accept the terms and click “Continue”.
- Smart Hub App will update according to the country you’ve selected. This option will allow you to add new apps to your Smart Menus.
- After Smart Hub updates, you can change back to your country number.
Smart Hub will automatically update again. Launch the apps that are not shown once it updates.
3. Update your Samsung TV Software
To fix app crashes and freezes, you will need to update your software. It will be a problem if the app isn’t compatible with the current software. Follow these steps to update.
- Use your remote control to access the menu
- Choose Support
- Choose Software Updates
Some Samsung TVs may not be easy to update. Updates may not be possible for devices that are from the 2012 series. The instructions might not work with current models.
You will need to manually update your device with a USB-Stick. Visit Samsung Support and enter your TV model for more instructions.
4. Reset the app
One app could cause the entire problem. This is true for all streaming apps. Take YouTube as an example.
The YouTube Flash App is available on all 2012 TV models. Google removed Flash from TVs in 2012 and earlier models.

- Visit Smart Hub
- Select Samsung Apps
- Look for the app that is causing you trouble
- Choose the app
- You can delete the app and then reinstall it. Click the arrow button just above the app icon. You will see a small menu with an option to delete.
Reinstall the app and restart your Samsung Smart TV.
5. Check your Internet connection
The streaming apps are most often the ones that don’t seem to work with the Samsung Smart TV. Notable apps include Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon.
These apps can only be used if you have an internet connection. A high-speed internet connection is required if your Smart TV streams 4K Ultra videos.
You can fix this problem by using a cable or LAN connection instead of a wireless or WLAN connection. Wireless connections are more susceptible to errors.
Many factors can also affect the connections, as opposed to cable connections. Alternatively, upgrade your internet plan to get a faster speed.
6. Reset the Smart Hub
All apps will be deleted when Smart Hub is reset. This means that you will need to re-download all apps from Samsung Smart TV.
This option is also available if you are unable to download apps.
Although the fix is usually successful, it should be used only as an emergency if all other options fail. Follow these steps to complete the reset.
- Exit Smart Hub.
- Select Menu and then Smart Hub from your remote.
- Go to Smart Hub Reset. A warning will be displayed telling you that the option will delete all your apps.
- Enter your PIN if prompted. The default value is 0000. Contact Samsung for assistance if it doesn’t work.
Go back to Smart Hub after the reset and download any apps that are not working. Wait for the setup to be completed by reinstalling the app.
Resetting the Samsung TV app store and allowing it to update itself should resolve the problem.
