How to Connect Canon EOS R to Mac?

Before you begin the Canon EOS R to Mac link process, make sure to keep the following things in mind.

  • Buy a high-quality USB cable compatible with Mac to connect Canon Eos R to Mac
  • Before establishing the link, make sure to reboot the camera
  • Use a high-quality AC adapter kit to ensure your camera’s uninterrupted power supply when establishing a Mac link

You can start the process of connecting the Canon eos r to mac, now that you have everything ready,

Steps for how to connect Canon EOS R to Mac (via USB)

Step 1. Power on the camera

Ensure that the camera isn’t already connected to Mac. Once confirmed, power it ON to start ahead with the whole task.

Step 2. Entering the Camera menu

As the camera is now powered on, you can enter the main menu by pressing the ‘ Menu’ button in the top left corner of the camera

Step 3. Disable the auto-power off option

You are now expected to disable the ‘auto power-off’ option in the camera once you have reached the main menu of the Canon eos r. Step 4. Establishing the connection

Turn off the camera and insert one end of the USB cable into your Canon EOS R’s available ports. Follow the same Mac procedure to establish a link between the two devices.

Step 5. Downloading the Canon EOS Utility software

Download the Canon EOS utility program and build a link to the camera once you have turned on the Mac. You may begin moving all your favorite images and videos between the devices from hereon.

Steps for how to connect Canon EOS R to Mac ( Via WIFI)

Once you have rebooted both the devices and ready to start with the connection process, go by the following steps.

Step 1. Run the EOS utility software

Download and install the Canon EOS Utility software for Mac from Canon’s official website. Once done, you are now required to switch on the wireless option of your Canon EOS R.

Step 2. Enabling the WIFI feature on Camera

The WIFI feature of your Canon EOS R must now be allowed. You simply need to follow the below procedure on your camera in order to get along with the same process.

WIFI Configuration>Enable>Wifi Function>Remote Control (EOS Utility)>Register a communication system

The LCD screen on the camera will display the SSID and Password information once you have gone through the same process.

Step 3. Enabling the connection on Mac

Once you have finished activating the camera’s wifi functionality, begin with the same Mac procedure. Go to the WIFI network option to get along with the same method and pick ‘SSID WIFI info from the above.’

Your machine will be asking for your password now. Enter the same password that was seen on the camera screen and choose ‘Join.’ You’re going to get a Mac prompt ‘I’m now on this network.’

Step 4. Pairing both the devices

Now you will get a ‘Start pairing devices’ notification on the camera screen. Press Yes, and you’ll receive a prompt saying ‘EOS XXXX pairing the device link in progress.’ Start the EOS utility program on the computer now.

The EOS program will ask a camera to kickstart the process of pairing. Click ‘Canon EOS R’ and ‘Connect.’ Now on the MAC screen, you will receive a pop-up window saying, ‘Check the LCD camera and complete the network settings.

When you get this prompt on the Mac screen, the LCD camera will say, ‘Found XXXXX. Connecting to your PC. Only pick, OK.

Step 5. Connection established

The devices are now connected. You can get along with the transfer of your favorite videos and images.

The steps mentioned above can help you to connect Canon EOS R to Mac without any issue. Still, do ensure to use a high-quality USB cable to create an uninterrupted connection between both the devices.
