With just a few clicks, the Windows Mail App is very useful for those who want access to their inbox. Syncing your Yahoo mail or Google mail(Gmail) with the app is important. However, users get Error 0x80048830 in the app due to some obstructions.

What happens is that the app fails to sync the attached Yahoo or Gmail account and therefore throws the error that might appear similar to the image below. You are probably here to solve the problem and would like to continue to receive and send emails just as before. We are also pleased to let you know that we have researched the problem and found a solution.

Windows mail error 0x80048830

Reason for Error 0x80048830

The reason why the error is shown to you is very simple, because either the synchronisation is prevented by your Windows Firewall or the antivirus you have installed conflicts with the app, and you are shown the 0x80048830 error.
In just a moment, you will be learning how to fix the problem. We’ve seen that ESET users are more likely to get this bug recently.

Fix 0x80048830 Error on Windows Mail App

Method 1: Turn off the Firewall for Windows

As discussed above the sync process can be prevented by the Windows built-in firewall, so what you need to do is turn it off.

  • Navigate to the Control Panel
  • Click Security and System
  • Go to Firewall for Windows
  • Click Turn Windows Firewall ON or OFF from the left-hand pane.
  • Check both of the settings for ‘Turn off Windows Firewall’ and click OK.

Open the Mail app now and see whether or not the 0x80048830 error is fixed. You don’t need to worry if the error persists, because we have Method 2 for you to try.

Method 2: Turn off Anti-Virus

For most of you, this process should work. ESET users are found to solve this problem much of the time by merely shutting it off.

So all you need to do in this method is turn off your antivirus itself or simply try turning off the firewall of the antivirus.

Now open the Mail app again, and this time you should be happy not to see an error code like 0x80048830 popping up. You might not want to turn off your antivirus every time you want to use the app, but as there is no other workaround, this needs to be done at the moment.

We have just shared two methods to solve this error code, just let us know in the comments below which method worked for you.
