The advantage to using an Arris modem over other internet options is that you don’t have to worry about slow internet speeds. You can stream HD video and music quickly with the right modem.
Sometimes, however, this does not happen. Sometimes, the device may stop working completely and cause you other problems.
Troubleshoot your modem whenever you experience a problem so you can quickly find a solution and continue surfing the internet.
Many problems can occur with your Arris modem. You might experience problems with your Arris modem, such as intermittent internet dropouts, erratic device connections, or weakening Wi-Fi hotspot strength.
You can solve the problem by following the Arris modem troubleshooting procedures. These are the problems that the device has and how you can fix them.
Fix Arris modem online light blinking
The online light of most Arris modems may blink when the device is in use or startup. It means that the IP registration failed.
If it blinks while in operation, the IP registration has been lost. Here’s how to solve the problem.
- Make sure you check both ends of the coaxial connector for the Wi-Fi modem. If any connectors are loose, tighten them.
- Verify the Ethernet cable. Once you have connected it, verify that the connection is correct to your Wi-Fi modem.
- Make sure you are checking the cable TV service. Check that the service is working properly.
- To re-establish a connection, power-cycle the gateway
Some Arris modems have a flashing blue online light that indicates the device is searching for an Internet connection. Give it some time, and then try again.
Troubleshoot Arris modem shows blue lights
Depending on what device you’re using, the blue lights on your modem may mean different things.
Your modem will perform a self-test every time it is powered on for the first time. The Downstream light will turn GREEN after it is complete.
Once the modem syncs on a Downstream channel the Downstream light turns solid GREEN and the Upstream light starts blinking GREEN.
Once the device has established a connection, the Upstream Light will turn solid GREEN.
The Upstream and Downstream lights will begin blinking BLUE when channels bond. The Upstream and Downstream lights turn solid blue after successful bonding.
A solid BLUE light means that the device is in a normal state and has completed bonding. It has also established an internet connection and installed the latest firmware.

How to fix Wi-Fi problems with Arris modems
These are the steps to troubleshoot if your Arris Modem Wi-Fi isn’t working properly.
1. Start the modem
If your device stops working, the first thing you should do is restart it. This will allow you to resolve many problems, such as slow connections.
- Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
- Make sure all lights are turned off.
- Before plugging in the power cord, wait a moment.
Turn off the internet and wait for the blue light to appear. This indicates that you have a high-speed connection.
2. 2. Check the lights
You will notice different lights if your internet connection is down. What color should my Arris modem’s lights be?
- No color: If there is no color in your view, it means that your gateway is not receiving power. Try again.
- Red solid: If the device does not start up properly, it may be because of a solid red color. You can try another power outlet, check for damage to the cord, or unplug and plug it in again.
- Flashing and solid green flashing green indicate that the gateway is connected to a power source. It does not require any further action. Solid green color means that the gateway is active and functioning well.
- Solid blueIf your broadband internet connection appears solid blue, it is active.
If the Wi-Fi light is on, it indicates that you have disabled your WiFi bands and the device doesn’t have an active connection. Wi-Fi network failure is indicated by a solid red color. Contact customer support to fix it.
If the Arris modem flashes yellow or solidly green on the WiFi light, then your wireless connection will be active. Once the color changes to green, it will continue working.
Fix: Arris modem link light blinking orange
If the Arris modem light blinks orange or amber it means that you have a stable connection but cannot access an IP.
This also means that data traffic is currently in progress. Give it enough time to finish the process. Alternatively, you can restart the device and start over.
How to reset an Arris modem
You can reset your Arris modem to restore its factory default settings. This includes passwords, static IP addresses, port forwarding and routing, DNS settings, custom wireless settings, and DHCP settings.
There are two ways to reset an Arris modem:
1. 1. Use the Reset button
You can reset your modem by pressing the reset button.
- Find the Reset button at the back of your device.
- Hold the button down for at least 20 seconds.
- Wait for your device to finish the reset process.
After the process is completed, verify that it has solved your problem.
2. 2. Use the web interface
You can factory reset your Arris modem via a web interface
- Start a web browser
- Enterhttp://192.168.0.1Enter the address in the box and hit Enter.
- Use your username and password to log in to your account.
- Click on the utility tab.
- Choose Factory Defaults from the left panel.
- Click the Factory Defaults button.
- Click the OK button to confirm your selection.
The default settings will be applied to your device’s reboot.
